Ouzi

  • 2 cups Tilda Pure Basmati rice (rinsed)
  • pound extra lean ground beef
  • 4 cups beef or vegetable broth
  • 3 green Cardamom pods
  • 1 Cinnamon stick
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tablespoon 7 spices
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds, pine nuts or both
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Microgreens or chopped parsley for garnish

How to make Ouzi

  1. Brown ground beef in large pot with olive oil and butter. Add seasonings to pot.

  2. Once beef is browned add in Tilda basmati rice.

  3. Add in broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and put lid on pot.

  4. Cook for 20-22 minutes until all broth is absorbed and riced is cooked through.

  5. Toast pine nuts and almonds in butter.

  6. Garnish dish with roasted nuts and Microgreens.

Rinse the rice before cooking

Once cooked, allow the rice to sit covered
