Rice
Steamed jasmine rice is used as the base for this delicious dish. Want a healthier option? Switch for brown rice.
Meat
Thinly sliced meat (usually beef), is marinated with grated green apple, soy sauce, honey and sesame oil. For a vegetarian or vegan option, try tofu.
Toppings
Add a burst of flavour and colour. Typically an egg, served sunny-side up, on top of assorted sautéed vegetables, like shiitake mushrooms, spinach and crunchy beansprouts. Finished with a sprinkling of sesame seeds.
Sauce
Sweet, smoky, savoury and slightly spicy, for many, the sauce is the highlight of this tasty dish. Gochujang paste mixed together with garlic, sugar, sesame oil, rice vinegar and mirin.
