These rice dishes are the ultimate comfort food
It’s getting pretty chilly out there. But we don’t mind, we love nothing more than to cosy up at home and cook our favourite winter dinners – with Tilda rice of course. To get you in the mood we’ve rounded up a selection of our heartiest, healthiest and tastiest recipes. From quick one pot dishes to delicious slow cooked roasts.
Put rice on your winter menu
If you’re anything like us these long dark nights will have you craving something satisfying and flavoursome. Soft, fluffy rice is warm, comforting and filling. It absorbs loads of flavour, nourishing you even on the chilliest of days. It’s a great energy provider too, which means it’ll keep you feeling toasty for longer. Why not add a few rice-based winter warmers to your repertoire.
Start simple with this easy winter recipe
Caribbean Spicy Rice is guaranteed to be an instant midweek hit with the whole family. It’s packed with vibrant flavours and can be made in just three simple steps. This traditional dish is made of rice (we like Basmati), peas and spices and of course for an extra winter kick, scotch bonnet (we’ll let you choose your heat level.) You can find the full recipe here.
Add a chicken winter recipe to your repertoire
Where do we start with chicken recipes? This super versatile ingredient is super popular too. One of our favourite winter dishes has to be the gorgeously creamy Butter Chicken. Served with Tilda Basmati rice it’s the perfect winter fake-away treat. Its tomatoey, creamy sauce is mild but tasty, so it’s good for more picky palettes. And it only takes around 30-60 minutes to make. You can find the full recipe here.
Add some fish to your dish with this winter fish recipe
Fish is high protein and full of Omega-3 Fatty Acids which helps towards your overall heart and brain health. Adding a fish recipe to your weeknight menu can have health benefits all round. If you crave something warm, wholesome but a little lighter try our Thai Fish Broth with salmon. We like it with Tilda Coconut, Chilli and Lemongrass rice, but you can choose whichever you prefer.
Go meat free with this vegan winter recipe
Tilda Rice is the perfect addition for lots of vegan winter recipes. It’s a good source of plant-based proteins, and it’s naturally gluten free which makes it a good alternative to pasta or other grains. A real vegan winter winner is Marinated Roasted Cauliflower with Peri-Peri Rice. The trick to this moreish sticky dish, is to sprinkle the marinated cauliflower with sesame seeds to give it a crunch, without the need for frying. Oh and a pinch of smoked paprika, don’t forget that. You can find the full recipe here.
